Lions and Tigers and Bears (oh my)! Ok, so there aren’t any bears, and this isn’t really a tutorial on how to do anything, but I’m sharing nonetheless, because, A. I’m obsessed with tiny plastic animal toys (and have been forever), and B. because I really want to be crafty but, I struggle, and C. all the animal DIY’s on Pinterest have been calling to me. Saturday morning my little one and I grabbed a can of gold spray paint, and took our little army of animals outside for a makeover. She ended up spray painting lots more than just the animals, but that’s ok, I like gold.
We gave these guys a good coat of paint, and left them to dry for a while out in the sun – that is, until it decided to POUR rain, hail, and thunder and lightening out of nowhere. We got them to safety in the studio. I didn’t really know what I wanted to do with them, I just wanted them to be gold. I decided to make a necklace out of the zebra, and I really should have taken a picture of my dining room table while doing so: what a mess. Massive amounts of beads, glue, sequins and jewelry findings everywhere. I mean covered. I totally couldn’t decide what I wanted to do with the zebra: I kept messing with it and ended up rubbing off half the gold paint. Boo. I think this took me an hour and a half, just because I couldn’t decide what to decorate it with. Not super crafty over here. I think it needs a crown and a gold paint touch up, plus some kind of sealant since the paint stayed a little bit tacky. Look for them parading around the blog though, and I have the feeling a few might make a debut in our styled stock photography collection in the Miss Modern Shop.
The animals are from the Dollar Store and Michaels. This whole situation is kind of addicting, even if you’re not crafty. xo
